Dispersion tuning of nonlinear optical pulse dynamics in gas-filled hollow capillary fibers

چکیده

We experimentally investigate the nonlinear dynamics of ultrashort laser pulses propagating in gas-filled hollow capillary fibres different dispersion regimes, which are achieved by tuning gas pressure. When pulse propagates anomalous regime we observe soliton accompanied with soliton-plasma effects, such as self-compression, resonant dispersive-wave emission fundamental well higher-order modes, blue-shifting and ionisation-induced splitting. Propagation vicinity zero-dispersion wavelength results splitting subsequent cross-phase modulation leading to generation an additional frequency-shifted band a 3-octave broad supercontinuum. In case normal flat this regime, experimental less described simulations that consider only propagation inside fibre. Free-space beam bulk gas, before entrance, suggest discrepancy is caused self-focusing ionisation altering spatial temporal shape, affecting both coupling efficiency capillary.

Nonlinear pulse propagation in dispersion decreasing fibers

By numerically solving the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, we analyze pulse propagation through dispersion decreasing optical fibers (DDFs) in which the core radius varies along the length of the fiber; this in turn leads to a variation of dispersion as well as mode effective area along the length of the fiber. We calculate an optimum core radius profile required to create a local balance betwe...

Nonlinear Pulse Reshaping in Optical Fibers

The propagation of ultrashort laser pulses in the optical fibers is connected with a plenty of interesting and practically important phenomena. Unique dispersive and nonlinear properties of the optical fibers lead to various scenarios of the pulse evolution which are resulted in particular changes of the pulse shape, spectrum and chirp. The modern age of the optical fibers starts from the 1960s...

Nonlinear pulse propagation in optical fibers.

We discuss the propagation of nonlinear optical pulses in fibers. The wave equation is solved taking the radial dependence in an average way. The radius versus wavelength curves for "no dispersion" in SiO(2) glass are calculated and plotted. These no-dispersion curves separate the regions of light and dark solitons supported by the fibers.

Pulse confinement in optical fibers with random dispersion.

Short-range correlated uniform noise in the dispersion coefficient, inherent in many types of optical fibers, broadens and eventually destroys all initially ultra-short pulses. However, under the constraint that the integral of the random component of the dispersion coefficient is set to zero (pinned), periodically or quasi-periodically along the fiber, the dynamics of the pulse propagation cha...

Pulse broadening induced by dispersion fluctuations in optical fibers

A general theory is presented to describe the effects of dispersion fluctuations on optical pulses propagating inside single-mode fibers modeled as a linear dispersive medium. It is shown that the pulse broadening induced by dispersion fluctuations can be quite large in dispersion-managed lightwave systems, especially at high bit rates, and can exceed that induced by third-order dispersion and ...
